FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I use your products during pregnancy?

Yes, however, you may wish to consult your doctor first. During pregnancy your levels of hormones increase and you might find that your skin will breakout. If it does, try our balancing products.

How long does it take for my skin to adjust to your products?

Is it normal to break out with a few little spots? Yes, especially if your skin has been used to products that contain synthetic ingredients. When you introduce new products to your regime, your skin needs time to adjust and detoxify, as it takes 30 days for skin cells to renew themselves.

Do your moisturisers contain SPF?

No. We choose not to include SPF ingredients like titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in our moisturisers. There are only so many ingredients we can cram into our moisturiser and we choose to add those that provide key nutrients. Added SPF ingredients means a lesser moisturising product. N.B. You need to have sufficient SPF ingredients in your sunscreen, so a primer or sunscreen should be applied after the moisturiser has had time to sink in to do its job. We recommend applying a SPF product at least 15 minutes after the moisturiser.

Why do you choose not to use SPF in your face products?

There are only so many ingredients we can cram into our products and we choose to add those that provide key nutrients to feed, balance and repair the skin. Adding SPF ingredients to our products ultimately means including less active botanical ingredients in our products.

Is it important to use a cleanser?

Yes. If the skin is not thoroughly cleansed this can lead to congestion and blocked pores. By removing the layer of daily grime and make up you have a perfect base for which to use toner and moisturiser. Without cleansing first it makes it impossible for any subsequent products that are applied to the skin (i.e. moisturiser or serum) to penetrate and work. Our Cleanser is free of the harsh chemicals which foam and strip the skin of its precious natural oils. Do you have an eye makeup remover? Our Cleanser has been formulated to double up as an eye make-up remover. It will even remove waterproof mascara.

I prefer to wipe off cleanser. Do you advise this?

No. However, we don’t recommend a detergent based cleanser which can strip and dry out the skin. By removing with water you will see and feel the difference in your skin texture and it will not feel dry.

Why do your products not contain AHAs?

We choose ingredients which work in harmony with the skin. By using AHA’s the acid will act as a quick fix rather than work to restore healthy balance to the skin. Skin is a complex organ and AHA’s may cause more harm than good in the long term.

Why should I use Toner?

Toner is important to use post cleansing to balance the pH of the skin. In addition it also adds a layer of floral water on top of the skin which allows the moisturiser to sink deeper to the skin. Toner makes the moisturiser work more efficiently. N.B. We do not use Alcohol Denat in our Toners as this ingredient dries out the skin and leads to skin problems i.e. acne, dermatitis and flaky skin.

How much moisturiser should I use?

All of our products are concentrated so you only need to use a small amount. We would recommend that you start by using a small amount (two pumps) and add more to your skin as necessary. With natural skincare products, a little goes a long way.

I would like to start a daily routine. In which order should I use your products?

Step 1: use our Cleanser. Step 2: use our Toner. Step 3: use our Moisturiser. Step 4: use our Eye Cream or Eye Serum after your skin has absorbed both the toner and moisturiser.

Do you have any anti-ageing or anti-wrinkle products?

Yes, all our products are anti-ageing because they contain anti-oxidant rich ingredients that help to slow down the ageing process. For a more mature, dry skin we recommend our Florence Selina range. These products contain additional premium anti-wrinkle ingredients.

Why do you have a range called Florence Selina?

I don’t like the phrase ‘anti-ageing’, as natural ingredients that are rich in anti-oxidants all help slow down the ageing process. The name ‘Florence Selina’ is a reference to both of Kelly’s Grandmother’s, who were a big influence upon her early life.

I have acne. Would any of your products help me?

Yes. In order to help restore balance to your skin we suggest the following routine twice a day: Week 1: Cleanse, tone and moisturise with our Balancing Moisturiser. Week 2: Introduce our Balancing Serum into your routine and apply underneath the Balancing Moisturiser every other evening. In addition to your skincare routine, we recommend that you consider changes to your diet. Try reducing dairy products and foods that are high in sugar and unrefined fats.

Can I use your oil based Balancing Serum on my spots?

Yes. We’ve carefully formulated this serum to help bring balance to areas where the skin produces too much of its own sebum (naturally occurring oil). Our oil based serum does not contain any comedogenic (pore clogging) ingredients, rather, it contains skin loving ingredients that help to tackle spots, oily areas and even scar tissue.

Which products do you recommend for Eczema?

How should I store my products?

We recommend that you keep your products in a dark, cool space. In hotter territories, we recommend our serums be kept in the fridge.

Do you use any preservatives?

Yes. It is really important to use preservatives in products that contain water as water can be a breeding ground for germs to develop. Preservatives will inhibit the growth of these micro-organisms.

Do you use parabens?

We do not use parabens in our products, rather we use another form of preservative which is commonly used in natural skincare.

Why are your products not white in colour?

We use premium natural ingredients in our products which often vary in colour. For example, our Sea Buckthorn is vivid red and our Avocado oil is a dark green. We do not add colour neutralising ingredients to make the product white. As a result, we add further beneficial ingredients within each product. As each plant yield varies slightly in colour this is reflected in each of our batches.

Do your products have expiry dates?

Yes. As with food, natural skincare products have expiry dates. These are marked on the bottom of our containers. All products are safe to use within the published expiration period.

Which of your products are suitable for Vegans?

Most of our products are suitable for vegans apart from: Arnica Balm, Mandarin Lip Balm, Florence Selina Face Balm and our Kinnective Emollient which contain beeswax.

How safe are your aluminium containers?

Our containers are coated with EPA which is a food grade plastic which prevents the product coming into contact with the aluminium.

Can I recycle your containers?

Yes.

Which product do you recommend for stretch marks and scars?

We recommend our Balancing Serum for nourishment of the area.

Why do some of your products contain alcohol?

Alcohol is used to extract plant material from herbs and flowers. This alcohol is not to be confused with alcohol denat which is extremely drying to the skin.
