Here are a few things you can use to jumpstart your body and reclaim your energy this week:
Cut back on stress. Yes, it’s a biggy, but everyday stress causes our hormones to run wild through our body. Every day this is depleting our body further, so it’s is important to find ways to manage our stress load. A simple way to do is to take deep breaths, focusing on breathing from the tummy to calm everything down inside us. Try this a few times a day, you can do it anywhere!
Get moving! Because we have tiny little engines inside our cells which turn food into fuel, it’s vital to get moving to fire up some energy. Even a 30 minute walk each day can make a difference.
Get more quality sleep – create a nighttime routine, starting with going to bed without your mobile phone beside you.
Fuel your tummy with the right stuff by:
Try eating less sugary snacks like chocolate, biscuits, croissants, and cake. Or, better still, seek out refined-sugar alternatives
Drink less sugary fizzy drinks – both regular and the diet variety. Sugars and sweeteners harm our insides and zap our energy. A great alternative is still or sparkling water (I use a SodaStream at home to add fizz to simple tap water)
Take a daily probiotic. These are the ones I take
Cut back on bread, pasta, rice and white potatoes. Swap them for sweet potato and roasted or steamed vegetables
Don’t drink caffeine after 2pm
